I was reading through the day's top headlines, headlines which by no stretch of the imagination seem to read like some passages from the book of Revelation, when I happened upon a nugget, that would be funny if it wasn't so sad.
For those of you who don't think I have a sense of humor, prepare to be dazzled. Apparently one of America's most prominent Christian Television Ministries has recently bought out Orlando's Holy Land Park, and as a show of Christian love and charity they proceeded to fire a quarter of the work force.
There is however an upside to all this, you can now take a break from the circus that is televangelism, and go to a theme park instead. While you're there, you can purchase the limited edition, leather bound prosperity Bible, some thirteen hundred pages with 1 Kings 17:10-16, repeated over, and over, and over again.
Just when you start wondering what they'll think of next, they exceed your wildest imagination.
One would surely laugh but for the tears welling up in their eyes.

I used to live down there in mickey mouse world and thought it odd that Marvin would create and entertainment trap right off of I-4 to catch the overflow crowd headed to the rats habitat.
ReplyDeleteCan there be any other evidence that we are truly entertainment led and fed sheep who will swill down anything that glitters and sparkles ?
Some of the talkbacks on this artiicle help me to understand why persecution is coming to the Church in the U.S.

Oh my, there's really a theme park called "The Holy Land"?!?!?!
ReplyDeleteWhen is this going to stop? When are people going to wake up? How did it get to this point? (All rhetorical questions, no need to answer.)
I was raised "in the middle of nowhere", no plumbing, no electricity, no gas, there wasn't time to be bored. You always had something you were supposed to be doing, so it continually astonishes me to see how entertainment driven this society(world) has become. If people would simply turn off the noise and lights and sit still for a while, they might be surprised at what they find.
I know I can't hear God when everything is busy and loud. I don't even listen to the radio in the car anymore. I think satan likes modern technology, it keeps people distracted.

It's enought to make you sick . I really thought the wealth and prosperity would fade and die away . I never understood it . North American (broadly speaking) style of Christianity always baffles me because it's so contrary to the Bible . One of my chief inspirational Christian since I was saved some 28 yrs ago was a martyr by the name of Vanya Moiseyev ...his singleness devotion to our saviour was exemplenary and his poems always been a source of encouragement.
ReplyDeleteMichael,
ReplyDeletenever heard of either, where can we get the book. I think that they will be worth a pretty penny as a collector item during the Thousand Year Reign of Peace. Doubt that they will be allowed to be printed then.
I think that God will have quite a laugh when the author holds the book up as one of his good works also.
I to see the humor, it makes me angry though.

Crazy, crazy world. Just when you think it cannot get more bizarre, it does.
ReplyDeleteSin is indeed insanity. Kyrie Eleison.
Muse means to think. You stick an "a" on the front of a word and it means the opposite of that. Like theist and atheist. I guess an a-muse-ment park is a place to go and not think :o)
ReplyDeleteSomeone get me a copy, quick!!!!!! How sad.
ReplyDeleteHi Michael,
ReplyDeleteTrue its funny but sad. It is even sadder when you see this type of evangelism being preached and immitated in developing countries. Everytime I visit my home country (I'm from Africa), I am shocked at how much the TV gospel has influenced pastors there...its all about the self and prospering (forgetting humility, repentance...the message of the cross). Every pastor/evangelist wants a bigger car, home, even a private jet as they see it in America and take it as a sign of "gods favor"..yet they are fleecing the flock to get this stuff and the flock is getting poorer - both in spirit and in the physical. It is sad that the worhip of momon has taken over the pulpit and it is all being done in the name of God....1Timoth6:3-5 is true..."they think that goldiness is a means of financial gain".
