A few months ago I got an e-mail from a sister, who in an attempt to encourage me said, ‘hang in there brother, the battle’s almost over, May is just around the corner.’
I didn’t really pay it any mind, I thought it was a misspelling, until recently when I started getting more and more e-mails about a certain date in particular, that date being May 21, 2011.
If you don’t know by now, drumroll please, this is the date upon which Christ Jesus the Son of God is to return in glory, and as consequence catch away His beloved bride.
I will say to the promulgators of this date, as I said to promulgators of various dates in the past, you would be allot more credible if you wrote out a check for your entire net worth, dated it for one day after you are supposed to ascend into the heavens, and send it to your preferred charity.
Would I believe you then? No, but at least I would believe that you believe it!
This is what happens when we do away with the word of God, and when the Bible is no longer the final authority on matters of Spiritual relevance.
Although there are more, I want to give you to the top three Biblical reasons why May 21 is not the day on which every eye will see the Christ returning in glory.
First, is the not so obvious reason that it is counterproductive to the plan of God! But brother Mike how can knowing the date be counterproductive to the plan of God? Glad you asked.
God’s plan and His desire has always been a relationship with His children. A relationship is built over time, cemented in trust, and a knowledge of the two parties that extends beyond a quick ‘I repent’ on May 20th, just to make sure we get to go to heaven.
We must live in perpetual fellowship with God, in a state of perpetual worship and obedience, and for God to give out a date would hinder His primary desire of an ongoing relationship. Men would look at the date, and the heart being exceedingly evil, they would say, ‘I have no need of repentance today, I still have so many months or years before Christ returns, so might as well dip my toe into the cesspool, might as well live a duplicitous life, might as well attempt to have one foot in the world and one foot in the kingdom of God, because I’ll repent of it all as soon as the time gets a little too close for comfort.’
The second reason that Christ’s return will not occur on May 21, 2011, is because the prophecy of Christ Jesus in both the gospel according to Matthew, and the gospel according to Luke concerning the end times is not yet fulfilled. The Word was written for the children of God, and the warnings included therein were placed there so that we might not grow fearful of the darkness that will soon descend upon the earth.
Matthew 24:33, “So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near, at the very doors.”
The third reason Christ’s return will not occur on May 21, 2011, is because the Bible tells us, no man knows the day or hour, not even the angels, but only the Father in heaven.
Matthew 24:36, “But of that day and hour no one knows, no, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.”
So taking this scripture into account, there are three possible logical conclusions we can come to. The first possible logical conclusion we can come to, is that the man who set this date is a liar. The second possible logical conclusion we can come to, is that Jesus is a liar, and the third possible logical conclusion we can come to is that the man who set this date is no mere man, not even an angel but God himself.
Personally, I think I’ll go with door number one!
Is Jesus soon to return? Yes, most definitively yes! Is His return at the very doors? By comparing what’s happening in the world today to what the Word says will happen during the last days, the answer is once more a definitive yes! Will we ever know the day and hour of Christ’s return? No, and I prefer it that way, because I labor, I strive for righteousness, and I worship Him today as though it were my last day on this earth, and tomorrow and the day after I will do likewise, because it’s not about the day Jesus returns, it’s about being welcomed into His kingdom when He does return.
With love in Christ,
Michael Boldea Jr.
Well said, Michael. Very well said.
ReplyDeleteHello Michael,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for covering this topic and elevating the Word of God to its rightful place and casting down all falsehood. We must be like the Bereans, reading the Bible for ourselves, to see whether these things are so. See Acts 17:11. You put it well in saying, "it’s not about the day Jesus returns, it’s about being welcomed into His kingdom when He does return." Oh to hear the words, "Well done, good & faithful servant. Enter into the joy of your Master.!" God bless you, Michael.
Oh, I wish for May at this moment. Burrrr
ReplyDeleteAs for "the battle's almost over," it doesn't feel like it for those of us that are in the midst it, some more than others. It feels like the battle is intensifying. Thank God we're not alone in all this, though it feels like it at times. Thank God for praying brothers and sisters, who battle for us that we don't even know.

Harold Camping is a deceived man plain and simple. I was originally saved in 1991 through Family Radio out of Camden, NJ. The changes I have seen in this very large Christian radio network are mind-boggling to say the least.
ReplyDeleteTruly, we need to be in prayer for those who blindly follow this man's teachings. I suspect he will, some how, explain this date away when Christ does not return in May as he did previously in 1994.
Then again, maybe it will be the end of his world in May. Who knows? God only does. Thanks for addressing this issue.
Well, I'm sorry to hear all the negativity (even if it's well-founded) regarding HIS return this May. I am looking forward to HIS setting things straight prior to the other prediction of cataclysm on December 12, 2012.
