Freeform Friday Week 14

Apparently all it takes for someone to betray their principles is no more, and no less than five whole dollars…yep, five buckaroos, a five-spot, cinco dolares, or the price of a cup of coffee.

Some time ago, the Christian community was all aflutter because a certain coffee chain openly endorsed what the word of God clearly calls an abomination. This endorsement came not from one individual from within the company, but as the stance and position of the corporation itself.

The word boycott was on everyone’s lips, people swore off coffee altogether, even candy resembling coffee beans, all until somebody came up with the great marketing ploy to offer a ten dollar gift certificate for five dollars.

Long forgotten were the cries of boycott, five bucks is five bucks after all, and in a down economy every penny counts.

So, all it really takes for Christians to temporarily lay aside their principles if not abandon them altogether is, you guessed it, five dollars.

As awesome as hearing ourselves sing ‘God’s got an army marching through the land’ might be, God’s army, at least within the continental United States, is by and large camped out at the local coffee shop waiting to redeem their gift certificates for a yummy chai latte...the indignation and outrage long forgotten.

So if you’ve got a number in mind as to how many believers will stand in the last days, how many will be willing to give up everything, including their families and their lives for the cause of Christ, cut that number by half, then half again, the half again, then half again, and you might be somewhere in the ballpark of a highly optimistic reality.

Remember, the devil will always have five bucks to spare, and apparently five bucks is all it really takes…

God help us!

With love in Christ,
Michael Boldea Jr.

P.S. New audio is up at www.handofhelp.com this week, I'm answering questions, so if you ever wrote in a question to Truth Be Told, well, now you'll have your answer. God bless.
