Sometimes It's You!

With the removal of personal accountability and responsibility for one’s individual actions, the entire construct of civilized society begins to crack and creak and eventually crumble in on itself. All one need do in order to utterly dismantle civilization is do away with the notion of each individual being individually responsible and accountable for his or her actions, and sooner or later, the gears will grind to a halt, and what we came to know as civil normalcy ceases to be.

Wherever you turn, whatever the context happens to be, we see that the notions of taking responsibility for one’s actions, or being accountable in some form or fashion have long been dead and buried.

If you’re fat, it’s not your fault; it’s the burger and pizza joints down the street. If you run out of money halfway through the week because you just had to get that seventieth tattoo on your back of a worm on a hook that has real deep and personal meaning, it’s not your fault; the mean-old-meany you work for just isn’t paying you enough. If you can’t get a job because you purposefully and willfully made your face to look like a crash test dummy after the fact, replete with ear gauges, nose studs, and lip rings, it’s not your fault; people today just don’t want to understand individuality and artistic license.

‘What about not judging a book by its cover, huh, what about that?’

Well, contrary to popular sentiment, you can tell quite allot about a book by its cover. I know, I know, it goes against the grain of today’s society, but there it is, the truth unfiltered. If the cover depicts a bleeding skull skewered by knives and spears, chances are better than good the contents of the book will not chronicle the heartwarming relationship between a boy named Boo and his three legged puppy Tripod. So, yes, more often than not, the cover will give you hints as to what the book contains, but that’s not what this post is about.

Yes, partially this post is a vent of sorts, but there is a bigger picture sort of angle I wanted to get across, and that is, we’ve taken this idea of zero personal responsibility and accountability, and seeing as it worked so well for the world, we’ve spiritualized it and brought it within the household of faith.

We’ve driven ourselves into this intellectual cul-de-sac, put the car in par, shut off the engine, and have commenced to waiting for something, anything to happen to vindicate our newly minted stance that try as we might, there is nothing we can do in regards to our spirituality, that the game is rigged, the die is cast, the story is told, and whether you’re in or out is a pre-established thing that has nothing to do with whether you repent or not, live holiness or not, worship Christ or not, or deny yourself and pick up your cross or not.

‘You have no say so, and have nothing to contribute. You’re just a speck on the river of eternity, unable to do anything but to let the currents take you where they may. It’s not your fault!’

But you see, sometimes it is. Yep, sometimes it’s you! Sometimes it’s your fault! Sometimes the outcome of the decisions you’ve made up to this point is the reason you find yourself in the place you’re in, and you’ve got no one to blame but the individual staring back at you in the mirror. We are all subject to certain universal laws, and one of these laws is that there is no action without an equal and opposite reaction. Another is that there is no decision we make whether for good or evil that does not come with inherent consequence.

Rather than wait to be pursued by God, rather than wait for Him to drag you into heaven, why not do as the Word instructs and pursue Him instead? Why not knock and see if He opens? Why not ask and see if He gives? Why not seek and see if you find?

With love in Christ,
Michael Boldea Jr.

I work in a place where people say, "It's not my fault," many times blaming others for their circumstances or of being misunderstood. Occasionally, but very rarely, do I hear someone say that they are where they belong.

In this place, I have seen men and women with nothing but time on their hands, come to the place of desperation. It is at this time that they may try to find something to do to help pass the time away and finally pick up a Bible and start reading it. It is at this time when they're not busy with their everyday lives, that they learn to pray. And it is at this time that God listens and He does answer.

Not everyone in this place is receptive to the Lord, but for those who do, Praise God!!!

This place is called JAIL! and I have seen the most hardened criminal melt when they come into the presence of the Almighty God. But for those who do not, unfortunately they keep returning with their crimes worsening, or in the past 3 years many have left and died a short time later.

Unfortunately, the church is too busy with our individual lives and church duties and we blame others for our actions or inactions. We blame the world circumstances, we blame movements for forcing sin on our nation, we blame our government for their crimes and for allowing others' sinful actions being force upon us, and the blame goes on and on. Thus we have placed ourselves into our own little comfort zones, placing ourselves into a jail of our own making.

We as the church are to blame. For not rising up on our knees before a Holy God for this our nation. For our bosses. For our coworkers. For our neighbors and the list goes on. We complain to God for the injustices that are being done to us, but why are we not praying for our abusers and accusers, that they too may become Brothers and Sisters through the God whom we claim to serve, that they may share in our sufferings, counting it all joy. Why are we not showing them the love of Christ and turning the other cheek, rather than trying to get even? Are we truely being His light to them?

Are we the church in our own little jail, looking out through the bars blaming everyone else for our circumstances, instead of owning our own inactions, not doing the duties that we have been called to do?

I more and more read about our Brothers and Sisters in other countries who are paying the price for their actions and faith and God is smiling down on them at this momennt. But will He be able to smile at us, due to our inactions when that day comes to this nation?

Isaiah 61:1, The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he thath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and THE OPENING OF THE PRISON TO THEM THAT ARE BOUND;

I unfortunately am to blame myself for my actions and inactions. But in my 10 years working in this dark world called jail, I have learned to pray for these people, and yes, I have seen miracles that can not be explained away. Praise God!

God bless you Brother for your faithfulness,
Nila

Hello Michael

A few verses of Scripture come to mind: Galatians 2:20 says, "I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me."
1 Corinthians 6:12 says, "All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any."
1 Corinthians 10:23 "All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify."
Romans 12:1,2 "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service (verse 2) And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God."
1 Peter 1:15,16 " but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, (verse 16) because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy."

Civilized Society ? The wucked have long ago turned away from the truth to fable They have chosen pathological liars to lead them and only seek and follow lying signs andwonders. 2 Thessalonians 2:11 God has sent the strong delusion and it is full speed ahead, we are in the final chapter. Even so, Come Lord Jesus for those wh earnestly look for yoy.

I honestly get what you are saying, but wanted to add some more perspective-hopefully Gods. Although it is true that whatever we do can usually be attributed to our choice, good or bad, His love really does cover a multitude of sins. As you beckoned in the last paragraph, all one has to do is come and confess, that "yes, it was my fault, God, but I now I need help." His love given at that moment is one of mercy and acceptance, and a heart of welcome into His family. He said, "I come not to condemn the world, but to save the world." Thank goodness, because we were in the same situation before we knew Him.
